The PAWS PLAYIN' FOR PAWS charity event was started by the West York High School (York, Pa) girls lacrosse program last year. What it is: The girls lax program picks a different animal shelter to raise funds for each year. ALL proceeds raised for this event will be going to the animal rescue. Last year we were able to raise almost $3,000.00 for the York County SPCA. This year we will be helping Animal Rescue, Inc. out of New Freedom, Pa. They are a no kill animal sanctuary that is soley run by donations.
The way we raise money for the event is to have the girls lax team and boosters club collect donations from local businesses or neighbors. This year we have partnered with the girls middle school team as well in hopes that the more people involved the more money can be raised. They can be cash donations, gift cards, gift baskets, whatever they would like to give us. We then hold raffles, silent auctions(we have a signed football from 7 players of the Baltimore Ravens: Ray Rice, Torrey Smith, Micheal Oher, Terrance Cody, Tandon Doss, Bernard Pierce & Arthur Jones. The football comes with a Certificate of Authenticity) and bake sale. We also ask people that come to the event which also will have the West York Girls lacrosse community scrimmage against one another to bring a donation for the rescue like blankets, dog/cat food, cat litter, office/cleaning supplies, etc. if they cannot bring one of those donations then we ask that they pay a small cash donation at the gate. The animal rescue will also bring out a couple of the animals that they currently have at their shelter in hopes that they may get adopted. We have programs made up raising awareness about the benefits of animal adopting vs animal shopping, spaying & neutering importance and raise awareness about animal abuse. We ask everyone coming to this event to wear as much purple as possible. Purple is the color for animal abuse awareness.
This is a charity event that is very close to my heart as well as my 2 daughters who play on the lacrosse team. We spend many hours volunteering, rescue transporting and crossposting to help animals in need and we now need your help to raise money for a great cause. Not only is it showing young girls how important charity work is but it also helping animals in need.
No donation is too small. We appreciate anything that you are willing to give us. We only have until the middle of April to raise the funds online. If you are a business and would like to make a donation for our raffle or silent auction I can be reached by email- acox1029@gmail.com. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. If you would like to come show your support at this charity event it will be held on Saturday 4/27 from 5-8pm at the West York High School football stadium.
The photo used for this event is just one of the many dogs that are available for adoption through Animal Rescue, Inc., I will be changing the photo every couple days to try to promote the animals that they currently have at ANIMAL RESCUE, INC.
