In 2009, our beloved warrior-princess-chef, Erricka Roemer, contracted cancer. She fought an intensive battle with it at the young age of 23. This past October, her health began failing, and she experienced 4 solid months of grueling, invasive, and dehumanizing testing. She had to take a leave of absence from her high level position of Executive Sous Chef at Phoenix's Renaissance Hotel. Instead, she spent her days at doctors offices and in bed, where she has been nearly incapacitated.

Fortunately for her and her many loved ones, the results came back positive. She is tentatively cancer free at this moment. A major relief. However, she did find out that the cause of her pain and suffering is due to three herniated, bulging, and torn discs at the lower portion of her back.

On February 12th, she underwent surgery for the first, and hopefully only, reconstruction of her spine. The surgery went well, but she is in a lot of pain and is still out of work. Her medical bills are over $30,000 for all of the procedures and testings and surgeries - this is with health insurance. Plus, she has a mortgage, a car, student loans, a fiancé, and ten thousand cats and dogs. She is 25. A monthly government disability check is not going to prevent this financially crushing burden, in tandem with the physical and emotional one she is already carrying.

This is why we created this fundraising page: to ask YOU, you good people, for help for a young girl, who really needs it.
