3 years ago, my friend Carole adopted a black Labrador. He was in foster care as the RSPCA had taken him away from his original "owners".

His story is tragic to start. The reason he was taken away, was his original "owners" decided it was a good idea to bash a 6 week old puppy against a wall repeatedly. Frodo's back leg was broken and damaged.

To make a long story short, Carole met him in the park when he was in foster care. Right there and then she had to take him. Carole already had a black labrador named Troy. Even knowing that Frodo would be have trouble with his back legs, she took him.

Fast forward to now. Frodo is a loving, friendly and wonderful dog. He doesn't get about very fast but he gets by. Troy dotes on him and loves him dearly. Everyone in our park does.

Carole took Frodo to the vet on Friday. He said that while Frodo is healthy he has the hips of a 10 year old dog! He is 3! The medications that he has to take daily are sucking the life out of him, Sadly the vet said that without a hip replacement operation, Frodo won't last another 2 years!

The positive news is, that with the surgery, Frodo has a 90% chance of living a normal life! His recovery would be quicker as he's still young and he wouldn't have to take all these medications.

Now the problem, due to his original injury, no insurance company would ever cover him. This is no fault of Carole's or Frodo's. This is the fault of the nasty people that decided it would be fun to smash a 6 week old puppy into a wall (repeatedly)!!!

So, this is the gist of it. So please help as much as you can. I know times are tough for everyone, but any amount is appreciated!
