I'm setting this up for a wonderful woman in rescue, Margene Griffith. She works tirelessly to try to save lives every day. Keifer is one special boy that hit the jackpot and got adopted by Margene. He needs extensive dental work done to be comfortable
This is Margene's plea to her friends in rescue: I AM ASKING MY FRIENDS TO HELP ME WITH MY SENIOR DOG KEIFER WHO I ADOPTED A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO AT EAST VALLEY. HE IS GETTING VERY SICK WITH A MOUTH FULL OF HORRIBLE TEETH. I HAVE BEEN SAVING UP ALL YEAR TO GET THIS DENTAL DONE FOR HIM AND EVERY PENNEY HAS GONE TO MY MOTHER'S BILLS FOR NURSING, MEDICAL AND KEEPING HER HOME MAINTAINED FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS. MOST OF YOU KNOW I JUST LOST HER A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. I TOOK CARE OF HER IN HER HOME FOR OVER EIGHT YEARS UP HERE IN CHICO. I HAVE APPLIED FOR GRANTS AND THE CARE PROGRAM AT MY VETS WITH NO LUCK SO I AM COMING TO YOU THE WOMEN OF RESCUE AND ASKING FOR A DONATION FOR THIS SENIOR OF 13 YEARS. HE IS COUGHING AND WHEEZING AND I AM A WRECK NOT TO MENTION THE PAIN THEY MUST BE CAUSING HIM

And this is Keifer's story:
In December of 2011 I had been networking a page full of dogs over the Christmas holidays and Keith was one of the little faces that looked back at me from my computer screen. He was described as geriatric, 12 years old and a stray, but was as cute as could be and I knew he would have no problem as far as getting a home for him. But no one showed any interest in Keith and his time got down to the wire. I had him transported up from Southern Caifornia and I brought him into the dining room where the other four dogs, all crated just stared at him. Not one sound was made. Nothing. Keith looked up at me, at the dogs and then up at me again and took off running down the hall running into every single room. Then he came back and sat down right next to me again. I realized that Keith got it. He knew he was finally home. His vet check showed that from being kicked repeatedly in his sternum he had a huge lump that would forever be there. His teeth were horrendous but could be put off for awhile. Awhile is here now. He is coughing and wheezing terribly at night. The vets have him on medication to control the coughing but as we all know bad teeth, especially in an old senior dog are deadly. The estimate I received from his vet is $600.00. Thanks for helping him stay healthy! Keith never walks anywhere, he runs. This will keep him running happily through the rest of his life.
