In late 2012, Doug decided to put together a philanthropic project that was big in terms of assistance to others; locally and internationally. After thorough research and numerous thought processes and planning methods, the 30 Days of Progress tour was born in January 2013.
30 Days of Progress is a program that is intended to become an annual event where a team of individuals will embed themselves for 30 consecutive days into a community that is unfamiliar to them and one that lacks business sustainability and leadership among the youth.
Not only will this project help the communities in “third” and “second” world countries around the world, but it will also have an Ontario based element to the project including a "5 city in 5 day" business and education tour this coming September.
To get this project underway, Doug reached out to many different organizations, including the Consulate Office of Saint Lucia, and was given approval (February 2013) for the proposed venture called “30 Days of Progress in Saint Lucia”. Once approved, Doug assembled a team that possessed the many skills and resources needed to fulfill the objectives set forth including business planning, business operational strategies, social business strategies, commerce, branding, marketing, web design, and personal development strategies.
When it comes to Saint Lucia’s small business community, we know micro and small businesses have the potential to create and expand employment opportunities, develop entrepreneurial skills, enhance market opportunities, and encourage export promotion and import substitution. We recognize the important role this sector plays in contributing to the social and economic development of the island and this is why we are excited about the opportunity ahead.
We also want to help the students of Saint Lucia improve their literacy & personal development skills, while building awareness for dreams to one day become an entrepreneur. This is what we call building the foundations for a stronger and sustainable community. The visual impression of a community is very important to us. With thriving small businesses, the impression can be one of vitality and wealth. It can create positive vibes for the entire community, and this is important to us both locally and internationally.
