Here's Lucky, the doomed Eskie from Kenton Ohio. He's looking pretty good for a dog who was to be destroyed today. Lucky was unceremoniously dumped by his owners in a kill shelter cause they could take care of him. He spent weeks in Harding County Ohio Animal Control in Kenton without any interest from the public, and from Eskie rescue. Some with reps an hour away. I called the shelter a couple weeks ago and committed to be his "hail Mary pass" if his time ran out. Well it did, and true to their word, the shelter called me to come get him. He's being fostered in MI at Sherene Kokelaar home.Sherene also drove the two hours to Kentland to get him. He has had his first vet visit and has all his shots and a good exam. He has issues with dental infection, a mass inside his ear. ear mites so thick it was like mud inside his ears, and he's intact and must be neutered. He gets along well with Sherene's dogs and is very nice. I wonder what he'll feel like when he's got his issues taken care of. I am currently invested into Lucky to the tune of $355.00. His estimate for his other procedures will place my financial responsibility close to the $1000.00 neighborhood. Yep, landmine dog..........like they say in NASCAR......"if you aint rubbing, you aint racing". When rescuing senior dogs, "if you aint spending money, you aint rescuing".So short story? Lucky needs surgery to remove a mass from inside his ear, a dental to correct issues that have led to infections, and a neutering. I'm not a large rescue. I'm just a guy who adores the older, senior Eskie dogs and hates to see them forsaken only because they are old and not as attractive as a younger pup. Lucky has a forever home waiting for him in New York. Lets help Lucky get better and join his new family.
