Brian Krans Hernandez, 10yrs old, hasn’t had an easy life. Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was 2 years old, Brian, now a fifth-grader, has been living with extreme blood sugar variations for eight years. Last year he was diagnosed with an additional rare condition of growth hormone deficiency. Causing his diabetes to remain uncontrolled. Unfortunately, his growth hormone deficiency cannot be treated because of his diabetes. He is struggling with both.

Now, the family has found a company that can provide Brian with a specially trained dog that will be able to sense fluctuations in Brian’s blood sugar, which could save him from a potentially deadly situation. All the Krans’ need to do now is raise over $20,000 to pay for the training of the animal.

A Diabetic Alert Dog is a service dog trained to alert their person when the person’s sugar level is 80 and below or 180 and above. Each service dog begins training within a day of their birth using scent swatches provided by the Diabetic.

Diabetic Alert Dogs typically sell for $18,000     to $25,000. With these substantial costs, most families need the benefits of effective fund-raising to meet the financial need.

Drey’s Diabetic Alert Dogs utilizes British Labradors, known for their even temperament, smaller build, and high intelligence. Drey’s trains each dog specifically for its future handler. These service dogs provide a life-saving service to those suffering from diabetes.

Seasoned professionals in a variety of exercises designed to produce the highest quality service dog train Drey’s Diabetic Alert Dogs. Each dog, beginning at a mere 24 hours old, is expertly trained in six important areas.

These areas are:

  • Socialization
  • Scent Work
  • Obedience Training
  • Alerting
  • Rewards
  • Public Access
