Background Story My journey began late May when I noticed a lump in my right breast. I waited about a week to tell anyone, then told a good friend. She insisted I call the doctor which I did. I was seen the next day then referred to get a mammogram, then an ultrasound. I then had a biopsy done and 24 hrs later received a phone call from the radiologist with the bad news that it was breast cancer. I saw a surgeon and surgery was scheduled for June 14th. I had a lumpectomy done and sentinal node biospy during surgery. During surgery the sentinal node came back positive for cancer so the surgeon also took out 12 more lymphnodes which were tested. Three more lymphnodes came back with cancer. I stayed the night in the hospital, was released, then came home with a drain for a week. The recovery has been slower than expected but it could be worse! :) I have had the drain removed but have to go "get drained" every four days. I met with my oncologist who I really really like and I have had an MRI and PET scan done with good results! I also had a genetic blood test done which I'm waiting for results. If they are positive I will have a double masectomy. If they are negative I will start my treatment plan. Within the next few weeks I will have outpatient surgery to get a port put in place for chemo. Chemo will be set up first then radiation. As exhausted as I am and as overwhelming as it is, I have wonderful family and friends who support me....it's unbelievable the support I have and I am truly blessed! My life has changed in many ways from little things such as not being able to shave my own armpit lol to having to explain to my amazing children what is happening to their mom...I have had some rough days but more wonderful days than anything. I know things happen for a reason and I know God won't give me anything I can't handle! :) I will be honest and open through my journey and I am STRONG! I will beat this and as I keep saying, GAME ON! :) Love you to all, Christa
