Dearest Family and Close Friends, If you haven't heard the news already- Vince applied to transfer to the Royal Hawaiian Apple Store, and , after a long interview process over the past few weeks, he was told last week that he GOT THE JOB! This is the PREMIERE Apple Store in Hawaii (in Honalulu) and one of the most sought Apple Stores to work for in the Country! They offered him a substantial raise, but they expect him to be ready to work by AUGUST 6TH. That's given Vince only TWO WEEKS to relocate EVERYTHING and move out there. He's is selling his car, his computer and cashing out his savings for the move and the flight. But, as you may know, the cost of living in Hawaii is steep, and Vince still needs to establish an apartment that is close to a bus route to work. THE BOTTOM LINE: When Vince and I did the numbers on his first month in Hawaii, he's coming up short. About $1000 short. That's a lot of money, more than any one person could comfortably give, especially in these times. But I can't think of anyone else who deserves it more right now, which is why, without him knowing, I'm launching this donation event for him! It's more than just a nice “vacation location” to work, it's a very smart upward career move for him; a top-performing employee of Apple who's moved up from starting sales to Business Team Manager at the Palm Desert store in only two years. It's also an important personal move for him, as this will be his first time living away from home in the Desert. He's told me for years now how much he's wanted to live somewhere else and “start new.” That is precisely what he intends to do. Try and find him on Facebook- you won't because he's deleted it. As his older brother, I couldn't be more proud of him, yet worried for him. He's been calling me this past week a lot talking about how nervous/excited/scared/happy he is, but mostly how he doesn't know if he's going to afford it. If I had the $1000 he needs, I'd give it to him in a heartbeat. But of course I can't. Again, Vince doesn't know that I'm starting this for him (at least for now haha!). But I want him to do this and do it right- he's worked too damn hard and has got too much riding on this transfer for circumstances out of his control to stop him now. Thank you for reading! A donation at any level will be greatly appreciated and put to direct use helping Vince Survive. I'm sure when he's a top Apple Executive someday, he will return the favor ;-)
