In July of 2012, Vixen was diagnosed with a Patent Ductus Arteriosis, a congenital heart defect that kills most puppies by 1 year of age if not detected and surgically treated. Vixen was two years old before the murmur was found and condiiton diagnosed, and without a very special non-invasive surgical procedure performed by Texas A&M University veterinarians, faces congestive heart failure and early death. The procedure has a 95% success rate of giving a dog a full and healthy life span. Vixen is not only special to her mom, but to everyone around her. She competes in dog agility, was one of the youngest dogs ever to compete at the IFCS World Agility Championships, and spends all her free time when she's not training for agility watching and supporting her hockey team, who all adore her. Vixen and I greatly appreciate any help you can give us, as having a life time together would mean the world to us.
