My heart is heavy as I think about the families in the Puerto Plata region who have been severely impacted by recent flooding. In a matter of hours, many people lost the safety of their homes, their belongings, and their sense of stability and the ability to sleep. Parents are trying to comfort their children without knowing where their next meal will come from, and entire communities are doing their best to hold on through incredibly difficult circumstances.

I’m reaching out with a sincere and personal request for help. Our Dominican Director, Amarylis and other Dominican Starfish volunteers have already distributed hundreds of pounds of bedding, clothing shoes and food packs to over 200 families.  These families urgently need basic necessities—food, clean drinking water, and essential supplies to get through each day. What may feel like a small contribution can mean everything to someone who has lost so much. It can provide a meal, a bottle of clean water, or a small sense of comfort in an otherwise overwhelming time.
