What we do.

Greek Roots is a Canadian nonprofit organization that empowers youth to become the next generation of leaders through community volunteerism, mentorship and Hellenic cultural experiences.  Our Annual Roots Revival trip to Greece is a one-of-a-kind experience for youth to discover basic grassroots living & activities, immersing them into the realities of urban and rural life while enjoying the splendors of Greece’s beautiful rich history and culture. Taking place from Friday, June 20, to Saturday, July 5, 2025, the trip is designed to empower young leaders through an unforgettable blend of cultural exploration, community service, and leadership development. 

What we've done.

Through a combination of meaningful volunteer opportunities, comprehensive education and training, impactful mentorship, and life-changing global experiences, we provide young people with the tools and support they need to thrive. Our programs not only nurture personal growth but also foster a deep connection to Hellenic values, inspiring participants to embrace their potential and make a lasting impact in their communities and beyond.

Our Roots Revival trip is a one-of-a-kind experience for youth to discover  grassroots living & activities, immersing them into the realities of urban and rural life while enjoying the splendors of Greece’s beautiful rich history and culture. The trip is designed to empower young leaders through an unforgettable blend of cultural exploration, community service, and leadership development.  Participants travel to the vibrant city of Athens and the picturesque island of Naxos. Here, they will explore Greece’s timeless heritage and contemporary innovations through hands-on experiences that inspire leadership and global responsibility. Participants will engage in activities such as beach clean-ups, sustainable farming, and dialogues with local leaders in governance, science, and technology. They will gain valuable insights into environmental stewardship and cultural preservation while connecting with peers from Greece to build global awareness. Every moment of the trip is designed to foster confidence, resilience, and a deep appreciation for cultural diversity.

How funds will be used.

We are collectively working to raise funds for this trip to provide participants with the most enriching experiences possible. The more we raise, the more we can do for our youth and the more opportunities we can offer them. Greek Roots is working hard to secure sponsorship support to help offset as much of the trip costs as possible, but each participant will need to fundraise a minimum of $2,500 for air travel and personal expenses.

To assist with this, we are providing access to Fundrazr, a peer-to-peer fundraising platform where youth can invite family and friends to support their journey.  Contributions made through the platform will directly support travel expenses and spending money for individual youth participants. Contributors can select which youth they would like to fund, allowing them to support their loved ones directly. In the event Greek Roots is unable to secure sufficient sponsorship to cover all program expenses, there may be additional costs for participants to cover. Any funding shortfalls will be communicated by May 15, 2025 to ensure everyone has ample time to plan accordingly. We encourage all participants to utilize Fundrazr and involve their community.
