Blake Clark hasn't added a story.
Hello,
I'm Blake Clark and for many years I suffered and struggled with the bondage of addiction. Today, I live a life free from that bondage because of the hope that is offered by organizations like Navigate Recovery Gwinnett. I am asking for your help to impact the lives of others who are just like me. Your contribution will make a positive difference in your communities. Often times we ask ourselves "how can I help?" today is your opportunity. Even a small contribution of $10 can produce radical change. I am asking that you go above and beyond that to show that recovery works and people are getting better. Thank you for your time and donations.
"I NEED HELP"! When we launched Navigate Recovery Gwinnett, we knew that was where true change started. As a nonprofit, grassroots group of community members and volunteers who had experienced addiction and recovery, we have experienced that ourselves.
Now as a Recovery Community Organization (RCO), we are saying it to you! “WE NEED HELP”.
Our VISION is a comunity that treats addiction as a chronic condition ad those that suffer with dignity and respect. Our MISSION is to serve individuals and families suffering from addiction by connecting them to the support they need and removing barriers that prevent them from getting well.
We need to know if this is resonating with you and our community and, if so, we need to grow in our ability to serve individuals and families who struggle with addiction.
As we reflect on 2016, a year of serving at Navigate Recovery Gwinnett, some things really stand out. We have had some amazing events for our community to raise awareness about the addiction crisis and the HOPE of recovery. The Faith Leaders Event in February, the #recoveringwinnett Symposium at Gwinnett Tech in May, The Lights of Hope event hosted for “The Addicts Mom”, and our Second Annual Run for Recovery are moments in time we will never forget. Over 40 faithful volunteers served over and over again to make all this happen for our community because they know that Recovery is REAL and there is HOPE!
This year, in addition to the community events we have facilitated, our coaches have been taking calls from individuals and families seeking help! Hundreds of callers contacted us for help in finding the support they need. Many of these individuals are uninsured, discouraged, in need of detox or a safe place to recover. When people are in crisis it is hard to do the research needed.
Our volunteers have created a great resource list and a questionaire to help the callers to assess their "recovery capital" (what they have going for them that they can build on). We connect them to appropriate resources and walk alongside them in their journey. We coach them over the phone, through emails and through meeting in public meeting spots. We are working towards having a support center in 2017 to serve them better! We will be sharing some of their stories with you during this campaign..
Now we say again to you, “We need help”. Our team is great at helping people because they have passion and compassion from having “been there, done that”. As trained peer and family coaches, they have enhanced this with skills they have learned and continue to grow through continuing education. Recovery Community Organizations like Navigate Recovery are a crucial part of the continuum of care for the chronic condition of addiction. We don’t replace treatment, counselors, or support groups-we provide peers to connect people to those services and walk alongside them on their pathway to recovery.
We are seeking to raise funds to continue to take those calls and to increase our support for families, in 2017. Please help us as we Advocate, Collaborate, Facilitate and Encourage RECOVERY!
