Persia China-UK hasn't added a story.
On October 16, 2014 I found a critically injured female kitten in a
terrace/roof located in the 3rd floor of the building where I live in
Shanghai. She had two collars, but no contact information of the
owner. I took her immediately to the Qing Teng Pet's Hospital and the
vet doctor believes that she was outside many days without receiving
any help, food or water.
She was found with barely 35 degrees of temperature and in
shock. Currently, she is in stable medical condition at the veterinary
hospital, but we still do not know if she will be able to be a healthy
kitten again nor how much movement capacity she will be able to
recover. She has a compression fracture between the vertebra T13 and
L1, luckily with no severe displacement, so at this moment we can only
wait and see her medical evolution. She needs absolute rest, medicine
and minimal movement.
Second update:
Regarding my rescued kitten (Persia) I am very happy to say that I saw her to move the toes of her hind legs ... so I am hopeful that she is not going to be fully paralyzed after all this terrible experience. However, still I need to wait and see for further signs of her medical evolution.
Further updates:
On Dec. 16 I went to visit Persia at St. Anthony Animal Recovery
Hospital. She is doing great: she is a happy and playful kitten that,
even though she went through a terrible experience, is friendly and jolly!
Persia has physical therapy every day and acupuncture sessions
once per week. At the hospital there is a paralyzed male cat named
Amon, who now is the "racing buddy" of Persia ... as the two
of them chase each other on their therapy wheelchairs!
Persia can still live a good life. Volunteers from PPAR and Animal Friends in Shanghai got her a wheelchair and have been fostering her, trying to keep up with her vet bills, but as you know, there are thousands of dogs and cats needing help in China and the bills have become unpayable.
Persia requires acupuncture and physiotherapy, beceuse there are hopes that she may be able to regain use of her back legs!
We need your help to fund Persia's treatment. Every $ and £ helps us give this sweet kitten the chance of a better life!
