Sinead Anderson, John Anderson and Myself are running the East Dumbartonshire half marathon on the 5th of October to raise funds for Dylan Phillips.

Dylan is my 12 year old Nephew who suffers from, Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a genetic muscle wasting disease that causes muscles to weaken over time, leading to increasingly severe disability. It is one of the most common forms of Muscular Dystrophy, usually affecting boys in early childhood, with many becoming dependent on a wheelchair by the age of 12. This disease is extremely rare with only 160 - 200 kids, mainly boys in the UK suffering with this. Funding is limited for this life shortening, terminal disease because of it's rarity, so fundraisers are required to raise monies to buy equipment required to make daily life as normal as possible. Funds from this race will go towards buying a specialist bed and tracking system to allow Dylan to be moved from his bed to the bathroom and back.  Dylan has just started high school and will need arm raisers and a retina computer to help with his studies.

Dylan is a fun loving young man who loves football and enjoying life to the full. We are all soo very proud of him.
