The Ryan Fischer Scholarship Fund hasn't added a story.
Ryan Fischer was one of the best. The kind of person that the world needs more of. The kind of person that makes everything and everyone around them better. A kind, positive, intelligent and proud young man, Ryan was full of promise and endless possibility. He was a 4.0 student, captain of both the football and hockey teams, a leader at his school and church, and had just been accepted to the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he hoped to achieve his lifelong dream of serving his country. He was a beloved son, brother, teammate, and schoolmate. On March 7th, 2014, Ryan died in his sleep from complications caused by an enlarged heart.
On May 24th, in Traverse City, MI, three men from New York will be running the Bayshore Marathon to help raise money for The Ryan Fischer Scholarship Fund. Those three men are eleven-time marathoner Matt Galek, Wasatch 100 and Vermont 100 ultra-marathoner Jim Bruening, and Ryan’s cousin, Jeremy Turner (who’s good at running around the block). They will run to honor Ryan’s love of life, his passion for adventure, and to make sure that his legacy is one that will stand for years to come.
The Ryan Fischer Scholarship fund will provide financial support
for young and deserving student athletes from West Michigan who wish
to attend university. We’d be honored if you would help us achieve our
goal of raising $10,000 before the race on May 24th. All donations are
tax deductible.
