My name is Nate and I am a keen sportsman trying to fulfil life-long ambitions in my new sport of wheelchair racing.

Thank you for your time in reading this post and generosity towards my cause in advance.

My aim is to challenge for a place on the Great Britain team for the Rio 2016 Games but to do that, I need my own chair so I can train every day and work towards the qualifying times by 2015.

I was born with Cerebral Palsy and ever since I watched the Sydney Paralympics in 2000, it has been my goal to proudly represent my country at the Games and perhaps win a medal?

I have played wheelchair basketball for 10 years but now I believe it is time for a change and  start working towards new targets.

In my debut season of wheelchair racing, It was quite a shock when I was named the under-23 National Champion and now have a top 10 UK ranking. I believe if I can get my own chair to train in everyday, I can propel myself into the top five and be in contention for a place in Rio.

The total cost of a custom made racing chair built to my needs would range between £3-5000 and I need your help to achieve my goals.

Currently, I am using a club-owned chair in Leeds where I do my training and that is a good hour and a half drive away from my home.

I train three times a week in the gym to make sure I stay in good condition but with my own chair I believe I can reach the international standard.

As well as racing for Rio, I believe it is important to give back to those less fortunate than myself. With my own chair and plenty more practice and training, I plan to race in city marathons across the country to raise money for children’s charities.

I want to do this because I know from experience how depressing it can be sometimes as a child in hospital so we need to continue raising funds for treatments to get them out of there quicker!

Thank you all again for your much-valued support.

Nate
