We all know how expensive education is. I was lucky enough to escape 6 years of college with 2 degrees and most of my wallet intact. However there's always that lingering shadow over my shoulder and my credit score, student loans.

I started in April of 2013 paying the minimum balance, as I was fresh out of college and making my way in the world, and have spent roughly $1,900.00 so far towards paying off the balance. But we all know that principals and interest are two totally different animals, and each month I'd make a payment, only to look at the "Grand Total" balance I had left to pay, and either seeing no change, or sometimes even an increase due to the month's interest accruing.

I am currently in the emotional market for an apartment, townhouse, some sort of home where I can stake my claim and spread my wings (and my stuff!). Somewhere close to my friends and family, a place that says "You don't have to rent a room from friends anymore. This is YOUR place."

While I have had difficulty managing my expenses because of this changing figure, if my student loans were taken care of, instead of fretting that this measly payment I *can* afford won't be enough to pull me out of the black hole that is currently education debt, I could instead use that money to SAVE, for a house, for a car, for a whatever I need, for a LIFE.

"Students who acquire large debts putting themselves through school are unlikely to think about changing society...When you trap people in a system of debt, they can’t afford the time to think. Tuition fee increases are a 'disciplinary technique', and, by the time students graduate, they are not only loaded with debt, but have also internalized the 'disciplinarian culture'. This makes them efficient components of the consumer economy."

Stick it to the man. Don't let me spend decades paying off ever-increasing debt I "earned" trying to better my life.

Do it for the Pomsky.
