Hi!! I am Lori Jacobs and I am the owner of a cupcake shop here in Toledo, Ohio and I am raising funds to participate in a mission trip with my church to return to S. Africa.

In the spring of 2012 I signed up for a mission trip that I have wanted to take since I was a young girl. Knowing that the cost was high and I really didn't have the money to do it on my own, I decided to raise half of the funds and personally pay the other half from my own pocket. When it came to writing the letter for fund raising and sending it out, I hit a brick wall. For some reason, although I have given to many people, organizations and benefits over the years, I had a problem asking for myself. I had one spontaneous giver and the rest of the trip I paid for out of pocket.

I left for S. Africa in October of 2012 thinking of how I was going to bless the people of S. Africa that we were going to work with, but received more blessings than I could have possibly given.

I realized that I had waited all of this time with the hope of doing this one day and I was finally given the chance and that there were many others out there that would have wanted to participate in blessing the people of S. Africa and the only way they could do this would be through someone else. Then it hit me....the reason why I give, and the reason that I can ask for someone else to give...to be a part of God's blessing. Sometimes it is you who is taking the trip and sometimes it is someone else. Who am I to deny anyone from being a part of the tremendous blessings that are given and received through spreading the word of God and doing it throughout the nations.

Now I have the opportunity to go back a second time and I am so excited, as I have established relationships in the village and church that we were working with from the last visit and I cannot wait to get back and see what God has planned for me for this trip. However, this year, I am unable to fund myself and I am now asking others to be a part of my journey.

Anything that you could offer would help. I have always believed that the smallest donation is never too small. Sometimes it is the smallest gift that is the most important.

I am not only looking for monetary support, but also for prayer support. If you find that you are not able to help in the way of funding, then please I would appreciate all the prayers for this trip that I can get.

Here is a short poem my Aunt Beth wrote for me for my fundraising efforts….I found it pretty humorous:

From mixing batter to spreading love,
Lori is traveling for the man above.
To help the needy, to feed the poor,
to shine some light on darker doors.
The cost is high so if you choose,
to make a small donation...
you can also be a part of his celebration.
And while she is there in the hot, hot sun,
