Just is the past two weeks we have now had two emergency C-sections. The first being Bella, out little lemon and white Beagle mix whom someone so lovingly decided to dump in the country very very pregnant, days later her breathing was labored and was rushed to our vet, x-rays were done and vet said about 8 pups were inside her, her breathing was labored, it was found out that she also had a heart murmur which made things much more risky for this poor little mama, and on top of everything she was dehydrated. Dr Basra, our very caring vet kept her half day and gave her IV fluids and watched her, then informed us things were not getting better so he had to go in via c-section to save her and her babies. While inside he noticed one baby was already stuck and Bella had a ruptured uterus too so to keep her from getting septic her cleaned her out and put antibiotics inside her. 9 babes wee delivered that day, all healthy thanks to Dr Basra and his team. Bella also was doing well. Bella was sent home with foster mom Penny and Karri came to pick up the 9 babies to botle feed over the next 18 hours to let Bella recoup some. Babies were reunited the next day and Bella took them willingly...thank goodness.
Just days later one of older adult Chihuahuas (around 8-10 years) whom was rescued from a horrible hoarding situation along with several others also seemed to have labored breathing so was rushed in, Dr Basra once more did x-rays and found 2 babies inside this poor old soul. He sent her home and told us to call us immediately if things changed or if she started labor as she may have difficulty with this labor. The very next morning, Ellie, was rushed into Dr Basra, who then tried to give meds to induce labor and kept her there for a couple hours to watch her. She too had to have an emergency c-section. One pup was already stuck and born stillborn and one pup survived barely and still touch and go. =(
Our rescue does not have these kinds of funds to keep doing these surgeries and are needing your help to pay off these hefty vet bills.
So far at least $1500 just for these two dogs, and it does not stop there. Please help us to reach our goal of $1500 to help cover these much needed surgeries.
