Winter Rain arrived August 8, 2012. Winter Rain's Arrival Winter had been sold by her previous owner to help pay for feed for the other horses, including her, who hadn't eaten for 6 weeks. The lady bought Winter just to get her out of the horrifying conditions that she was in and get her to a safehaven. She had been in search for a rescue or TB rescue who would take Winter in, but no one would take her. She called Bob to her rescue and he showed up to get her that very same day. Winter is just 1 of 8 emaciated horses we have brought in to the Domino Effect Rescue Ranch since June 2012. Winter is about a level 2 emaciation and will require a lot of intensive care for her to recover. She has a huge lump on the side of her neck and multiple lumps underneath her tail, which we fear to possibly be cancer. Initially, she when she came in she was treated for rain rot and given a good clean up. The farrier came out to check her hooves today and would only let him do the front 2, which have thrush. She was so weak that she couldn't hold her balance for him to pick up her back hooves and work on them. Winter will need immediate vet care and possible transport to the University for testing regarding the lumps on her neck and tail. She needs immediate funding for her basic vetting and nutritional needs and then she will need funds for the extensive medical testing and treatment here in the very near future. Winter is the second emaciated OTTB that we have taken in just in the past week. Our funding has been completely tapped dry due to the extensive care and feed we have had to provide for the 16 horses, 8 of which have been emaciated horses that have been brought in since June 2012. Winter needs your help, help that we cannot possibly provide on our own. In order for us to be successful in our mission in saving these beautiful creatures and giving them a second chance, we desparately need your help to continue. Bob and I have reached the point after 2-1/2 years that we no longer can do this without your help. We are stepping up and being a voice for these horses. We could turn a blind eye and claim to not have the funds to save them and know that a horse is withering away and starving to death because we have refused them or we could reach out and bring them in to a safehaven and hope that God touches your heart to help us save these horses before it is too late. My heart says "reach out and embrace these beautiful creatures who are crying so desparately for our help and God will provide, even if it is just $5 at a time" Domino Effect Rescue Ranch “People Helping Animals Helping People” Robert & Dinelle Ashcraft 10370 Snowbird Avenue Weeki Wachee, Florida 34614 352-596-3104.
