Living in the middle of a community like Javillar in the Dominican Republic can be quite a culture shock when you come from the comforts of life in the USA.  The ILP teachers were touched by the desperate living conditions of Noemi and her family and reached out to Dominican Starfish Foundation asking if they could help raise the funds to build them a home. 

This will be a huge blessing for this family.  Unlike our homes, we can build a small, comfortable, three-bedroom home in the Dominican for only $15000.  

Noemi has 3 children and 2 grandchildren that live with them in their tiny shack.  

In their small living area, the dirt floor is covered by pieces of cardboard that they have collected.  

The saying goes, "Many hands make like work".  Thanks to this great group of teachers who are willing to work together to bless this family.  Together we can make it happen!!

Dominican Starfish Foundation and our partners Pal Humanitarian have been working together to build homes in the Dominican Republic for 10 years and have helped over 210 families with homes. 

Here's how it works. Families and groups sponsor a home and we hire local workers to do the building, thus providing employment for others to help care for their families as well. 

In 2019, these two ILP teachers fell in love with some of their students.  With two other teachers, they, their friends, and their families raised the funds in only one month to build a home for Renae and Dalina and their family. 

In 2022, the entire funds for this home for Lula and her 5 children were donated by the family of one of the ILP teachers.  

Angelica was also blessed in 2022 with a new home with ILP teachers assisting in fundraising. 

Please help these young teachers to realize their goal of helping Noemi and her family to have a home.
