Made In Puget Sound is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization that has created and revolutionized scientific underwater research with the development of our groundbreaking, non-invasive, technologically advanced, and environmentally friendly program. Utilizing our state-of-the-art underwater 4K cameras, 4K drones, computers and specialized equipment, we provide the world's first and only live-streaming and interactive experience.
We are employing cutting-edge technologies to provide real-time access to previously inaccessible underwater areas of Puget Sound and the Salish Sea. This unprecedented underwater research work has never been attempted or accomplished anywhere else in the world.
Our program caters to schools, biologists, scientists, as well as public and private audiences, allowing them to actively participate in our live broadcasts, deep from the depths of our cold, emerald green pacific northwest waters. Students and researchers have the opportunity to directly interact with our diver(s) deep underwater through the platform of YouTube Live. These events are recorded and professionally edited, serving as a comprehensive educational resource with a high level of in-depth scientific research.
By focusing on under-researched areas and the thriving wildlife in our cold waters, our program offers marine biologists, researchers, and scientists’ valuable scientific insights that were previously unattainable. The understanding of the intricate relationships between surface and deep-water ecosystems is being significantly advanced through our program, which holds immense intellectual and educational merits. Moreover, our research team possesses the capability to conduct live events at any location in Puget Sound, Hood Canal, and the San Juan Islands, reaching impressive depths exceeding 120 feet. This wide-ranging accessibility further enhances the impact and reach of our program, facilitating comprehensive exploration and research throughout the region's underwater landscapes.
Why Made In Puget Sound?
Made In Puget Sound is a practical, solution-oriented, scientific research organization. We unite people and organizations through purpose-driven action. We are galvanizing support to return our local ecosystem restoration by providing access to the rarely or never seen and explored, important hidden underwater regions. The essential skills of our highly motivated marine biology volunteers, along with our delicate equipment allows us to bring this hidden world to the surface.
Why Ecosystem Restoration?
Puget Sound is one of the most important estuaries in the world. Once vibrant and filled with amazing wildlife, but now it is suffering from a multitude of threats. Pollutants, toxins, heavy metals, micro and nano plastics, chemicals and others are threatening our waters very existence. Population levels of the plants and animals are disappearing at an alarming rate. There has never been a more urgent need to revive damaged ecosystems than now!
For example, over the past 100 years, 90% of salmon populations and habitats have been lost to over fishing, warming waters, and many other problems. Many other species are suffering as well. Healthy ecosystems are absolutely necessary for human and planetary health. Without salmon, many other species may also perish.
Our Southern Resident Killer Whale population are also in serious decline. These magnificent creatures face extinction in our lifetimes. Without salmon there will be no more resident orcas.
Our Story
Funded by enthusiasts like you, our live streaming, interactive underwater research methods are making a great impact. Conducting more and greater research will spread and inspire more people to get involved. Educating and enlightening students, encouraging the creation of workable solutions will increase exponentially. Every live research event will move us closer toward a cleaner, greener, healthier Puget Sound.

We think big and do not accept that change cannot happen. We're continually protecting our treasured ecosystems and the wildlife they support. This is making a positive difference in the lives of people here in the Northwest and will help shift public policy.
Work together:
We connect people from all around our region who want to share and find alternatives to the growing issues facing us today. By eliminating single-use plastics and styrofoam, reducing toxins and pollutants being dumped into our precious streams, rivers, lakes, and the Sound, and limiting over-fishing and habitat loss we will achieve our goals.
