Beaverton Education Foundation has already provided $500 in matching contributions.
Barnes Elementary LMA, Mrs. Evans, is looking to increase the inventory of books that reflect diversity and BIPOC in an outdated library. Our students need to read books that have main characters that look and sound like them. Barnes is a dual immersion school and there is also a lack of relevant books in Spanish for students to read. As our students receive Spanish instruction, they need books to read that support their literacy education. This grant would help update our library and provide materials that would better support our students' literacy education.
In just 2 days, our wonderful community has knocked it out of
the park, hitting the $1000 goal so fast that we're increasing the
goal to try to reach $1500 by Friday!

Founded in 1988, the Beaverton Education Foundation raises money to provide hands-on innovative academic enrichment and advancement programs & projects that go beyond normal school funding at all Beaverton public schools and is a 501(c)(3) community-based nonprofit organization. BEF mobilizes community resources to fund innovative classroom projects, summer and after-school programs.
In the event that this project does not reach its goal or exceeds its goal, BEF may apply the funds received to another similar project.
