Kathryn Van Stone hasn't added a story.
First time Mom, Emily, looked forward to meeting her identical twin
girls in June 2015. However, in early March, Emily began experiencing
symptoms of preterm labor. It was at this point that I received a
prayer request on behalf of Emily's family ~ for the health of Emily,
wisdom for her doctors, and especially for the lives of her twins,
Nevaeh & Aerianna.
Unfortunately, one of the twins passed away, but with rest &
prayer, the doctors were able to give the other twin a few additional
weeks inside her Mother's womb! On March 22, Emily welcomed her
stillborn baby Nevaeh, and her 2lb2oz baby Arianna.
Though Aerianna is healthy, she has a long road ahead of her in
the NICU. Emily, also, is walking a difficult road as she grieves the
loss of Nevaeh, and experiences the challenges of being a
"Preemie Mom" to Arianna at the same time. Emily and her
family desperately need our prayers and support on this journey - but
there are other things that we can do as well to ease her burden.
St. Gerard's Center for Life, where Emily was receiving support,
serves pregnant women in crisis due to lack of family/partner support,
financial challenges or facing pressures to abort. Enrolled families
can participate in classes on prenatal development, breastfeeding,
responsible parenting, reproductive health & wellness and life
skills support, allowing them to earn items such as baby clothing,
diapers and personal items. St. Gerard's also provides Social Service
referrals for housing, education, material support, medical aid and
adoption for families, as well as free limited obstetrical
ultrasounds. St. Gerard's is a place where many women and families
find peace and happiness in the value of human life. But nothing can
prepare a mother to walk the journey Emily is now on, and as St.
Gerard's serves *many* families in the Greater Hartford area, it is
time for US to step in as Emily's Angels. Together we can help ease
the burden of the burial costs for Nevaeh...Together we can help
provide resources to comfort Emily and help her remember
Nevaeah....Together we can provide the items and resources needed for
Aerianna as she grows and Emily as she celebrates the tiny victories
over the next months. Even more important though, is that we will be
providing a family with HOPE and a community so they do not have to
walk this path alone or in darkness. Let us light their path.
My name is Kathryn Van Stone, and I share my light with Emily in
memory of my son Joey, who was stillborn in 2009. In my own journey,
I have searched for ways to turn my grief into Stewardship and came
across this poem:
"The journey of grief can seem bleak and lonely. Look
in front of you...there are others encouraging and guiding you.
Look beside you...there are others on the same journey. Look
behind you...there are others encouraged by you. We are not alone
on this journey."
Through our support, I pray that Emily will know she is not alone
on her journey. That we may help divide her grief, and multiply her
joy. Funds raised will be allocated directly to the Funeral Home to
help with cost of burial...any extra funds will be allocated toward
items and resources needed for Emily on her grief journey and for
Aerianna while in the NICU.
