CorgiPals, Inc. hasn't added a story.
Wrigley is an 11 year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi who has been with her
mom, Kathy, since puppyhood. Recently diagnosed at the University of
Iowa’s small animal hospital in Ames Iowa, she was already known there
from procedures she’d had when she was younger. Now, with the holidays
looming, Kathy needs help with her beloved Wrigley. Here is her story
in mom Kathy’s words.
"Laurie from Daily Corgi suggested I contact you to inquire
about financial help with chemotherapy for my corgi Wrigley. Wrigley
is 11 and she was diagnosed with lymphoma. I took her to Iowa State
University in Ames, Iowa. They have a wonderful small animal
hospital there and Wrigley and I are very familiar with them. She
had leg surgery there when she was 6 months old and surgery to
correct a juvenile vulva that was causing chronic UTI. They ran some
tests and she has the "good" kind of lymphoma. It is
B-cell, moderate and she is a good candidate for chemotherapy. The
options were, weekly treatment that would cost between $6500-$7000.
This treatment has an 80-90% remission rate on average for 1-2
years. The second option is every two weeks for $1500-$2000, the
remission rate is lower and lasts on average 6-9 months. I can't go
to Ames every week and cannot afford the better option so I decided
to do the bi-weekly option. I would very much love to be able to do
the first option and I can do it closer to home but that clinic
would charge about $1000/month for 6 months. I am willing to pay my
part and if is possible to get any assistance that would be unbelievable."
The total estimate of Wrigley's weekly treatment for a clinic closer
to home comes to $3,000-$8,000 per 6 month period. I have set
Wrigley’s campaign at $5,500, which includes PayPal and Fundrazer
fees. Please share Wrigley’s story and donate if you can so we can
give Wrigley and Kathy precious time to enjoy more holidays together.
