I will be off to Uganda next July for 6 weeks to teach! I have wrote in detail what I will be doing and why I am doing this below :) More ...

6 weeks teaching in Uganda.

Who is Volunteer Uganda?

Volunteer Uganda is "an award winning group of organisations dedicated to supporting communities in rural southwest Uganda in their efforts to rise out of poverty.

Our mission is to help bring about permanent, sustainable development through educational infrastructure development, job creation, health promotion and volunteering."

They select 200 applications a year and give them the opportunity to go to Bwindi in south Uganda to provide the children with the education they need so they can gain a better life and I want to be involved in making a difference.

Why are you travelling to Uganda?

I believe every child should have the right to be educated, no matter what part of the world they live in. Teaching children the skills they need in life is extremely important and beneficial for them. I want to help them gain the knowledge they need so they can achieve their goals and dreams. Knowing that I’ve helped a child will not only be very rewarding for me, but it will mean so much to them knowing that they can achieve anything they desire.

When will you be going?

I'll be travelling to Uganda on the 16th of July, 2015 and I will be spending 6 weeks teaching.

What will you be doing in Uganda?

Volunteer Uganda have built 4 primary schools, a secondary school and a college which is currently trying to achieve university status. I will visit every school in the first week and chose which school I would like to spend my time teaching at.

In this time, I also want to make an after school writing club because I am currently studying Journalism at university and I want to help them gain a passion for writing. I also want to start a sports club for girls. This is because many of the girls do not get the opportunity to take part in any types of sports. I want to change this and give them the chance to do something they might have not done before.

Also, I will be white water rafting (and maybe a bungee jump) into the River Nile when I arrive in Uganda and during the 6 weeks, I will also be going on a safari which is something I’ve always wanted to do.

So my aim to to raise as much money as I possibly can before I go!

Thank you so much! :) xxx
