Help us pay for our 1.5 year old dogs hip surgery we can't afford. We saved him from a dog shelter 6 months ago and now he's in severe pain. You can make the difference! More ...

IMPORTANT UPDATE (June 2nd 2014):

I want to share a very important update on Lana's case. We have some very good news!
We went for a second opinion to another specialist and he discourages the use of hip protheses since there are still a lot of complications involved in the procedure.

According to him we were were wrongly informed by our vet.

They x-rayed Lana again to look at his knees and other parts of his leg to make sure it's absolutely straight.

The specialist confirmed that our dog is in a lot of pain and absolutely needs a surgery. But he wants to use a different technique to make him pain free again. The doc wants to make use of a double hip joint amputation.

With that technique they saw away the hip joint. And the dog only relies on his muscle structure for movement.

He would be painfree and regain a high activity level within 6 weeks after surgery. And best news of that all is that the cost gets reduced to 2,500 EUR!

Still you can make a big difference for us by supporting our cause!

The story:

6 months ago our dream came true. After having some bad luck with a previous Belgian Malinois, we finally reached the point of adopting a 12 month old German Shepherd 'pup' from the dog shelter. Here name was Lana.

Lana didn't had a good life before. She was very skinny, her fur didn't looked shiny and she never had the affection and attention every dog deserves. But things were about to change for her. We were convinced to give here a better life!

6 months later we doubted about her hips since she was walking with a curved back and sometimes had a limping leg. We went to our vet and had her x-rayed thoroughly.

Unfortunately my girlfriend came back crying with some very bad news. According to our vet she suffers from severe Hip Dysplasia and artritis on one side. And the other side is also gradually getting worse. She would be in severe pain according to the vet. The only solution is surgery or putting her to sleep.

Since we already lost our former puppy due to issues, this was very difficult news to take. The impact on us was enormous.

You are the solution:

Normally I would never turn toward crowd funding but since I don't want to take away my girlfriends dog this feels like the only solution. I know we ask much, and you might not know us personally. But we reached the point where every dollar counts.

So even if you can only miss a few dollars, everything is more then helpful. You can expect updates on this website so you can see what happens with the money you gifted.

I thank you very very much for taking the time to read through this, for your gift and for sharing this website among friends and relatives. Your help is very much appreciated!

Kind regards,

Pieter, Jessi & Lana
