I'm raising money for FIND (Families In Need) by boxing in a sponsored charity tournament on June 7th. It's a white collar event and I've never boxed before. Any support you can give would be amazing.

It might be a bit of a surprise to hear that I'm going to box in a charity tournament on June 7th.

It's so completely out of my comfort zone that I felt it was a serious challenge, and a serious way I could raise money for a local charity that I believe greatly in.

I became involved with local Ipswich charity FIND (families in need) a while back, and want to support their important work in the local community.

In a very basic summary, Maureen and her team of volunteers deliver help and support to the most vulnerable people in society. Most of the time these are families and people who have somehow fallen down the cracks between support services, or the services are under-funded and unable to help.

They help families, the Food Bank locally, as well as Rough Sleepers. This is a tough charity to run, often not glamorous, and not internationally important, and not particularly visible politically. But they deliver the kind of help that makes a real difference to people and their lives, on a completely personal level.

The charity tournament has a minimum donation of £400 to enter, all of which will go to FIND.

Any money raised over the £400 will be donated directly to FIND.

Thanks for sharing this journey with me, and I will post some pictures of the night (and results) on Facebook.

Thank you also to Matt Brennan, Robert Hodgins and Suffolk Punch Boxing Club for organising the event, and for donating the entire training programme in support of it. If you are based in the Ipswich area and would like to try boxing, then I highly recommend

If you don't like any part of this, but would still like to support FINDs work, then please do make a donation for them at
