CorgiPals, Inc. hasn't added a story.
Pals, on this last day of July, I'd like to introduce our newest Helping Paws client. Here is beautiful Nina's story in the words of Corgi Parents John and Siran:
"I rescued Nina two years ago from some people that were going to dump her off at a shelter if they couldn't get rid of her. I fell in love at first sight. I learned once I got home and started to pay attention to her more that I and others who knew her when I first brought her home feel that she had been abused. She was so scared of everything especially anyone that had something in their hands. She would hide in her kennel all the time. Overtime with lots of love and patience she came out of her shell, she tore up a lot of stuff along the way but it was all worth it. She has grown a lot over the last two years and she is even less threatened by men now. At first, she would growl at almost every man she saw but liked most women. It is no wonder that once my now wife moved in Nina became more her pet than mine. She is a good dog and we are going to do our best by her but if we could get some help that would be wonderful.
While she was out in the yard a little over a week ago she somehow blew out both of her knees. The vet stated that it was a cause of a birth defect because of the way that her bones grew and the only way she would ever walk again is with surgery. She had surgery on both knees last Thursday.
She is getting a little better every day. She is tough and stubborn as with all Corgis, she wants to do it herself, and hates that I have to carry her everywhere. She stood for a couple of seconds yesterday which scared me and I had her sit down. I know that she is testing herself more everyday and that is a good thing it is just scary for us because we don't want her to try to do to much to quick. We all thank you for your support."
The total bill for Nina's surgery came to $3,500, but luckily Fairy Tail Endings, a nonprofit in Florida, was able to contribute $500 to Nina, leaving $3,000 unpaid. I have set up a fundraiser with the goal of $3,150 to cover Nina's bill and Fundrazr/PayPal fees. Please share her story and donate if you can!
