My name is Geoffery Hill and I teach karate to 350 kids at a charter elementary school in Harlem. I am fundraising a tournament for my karate students and I need your help.

These students work vigorously from 7:15-4:30 to close the achievement gap that had plagued this community for decades. I attempt to provide these scholars with the same karate experience I enjoyed as a kid. Whereas my parents were able to afford travel costs, tuition, and registration fees many of my scholars families are unable to provide these same opportunities. When I was a kid, karate tournaments offered an unparalleled experience and opportunity to socialize and compete in a healthy environment.

I am currently mustering the resources and personnel necessary to provide my scholars with what might be a once in a lifetime opportunity for them to do the same thing. In order for them to enjoy the experiences I took for granted I need help. I am dedicated my and financial resources towards this pursuit. My goal is to provide uniforms, headgear, mouthpieces, handpads, medals/trophies, 15-20 judges (compensation and lunch), entertainment (taiko courtesy of soh daiko), ring mats and gym space for a few hundred scholars. It is my intent to make an event comparable to what these scholars would experience anywhere else minus the $60 plus admission that those events require.

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
