While on a medical mission to Haiti, I discovered my interpreter was a soon-to-be-graduated Haitian medical student. We asked if he wanted to see patients in the mountain village where we were working and he was ecstatic to be doing something of such importance. Max and I shared an exam room and I can tell you that watching him work with his fellow countrymen, I knew I could never make the impact that he will make there. We talked at length about his dreams to heal his country and his understanding of the environmental, social, and political forces keeping Haiti from flourishing. I asked him recently how we could best support his success in assisting the distraught villagers and homeless people of Haiti and he said he just needed a few tools, a pulse-oximeter, which I was already able to purchase, and an oto/opthalmoscope kit. I have been browsing Ebay, being only a student of limited means myself, but I wish for Max to have at his disposal the proper decent tools so that he can do the important work he has set before him. He graduates this year and I, as well as the rest of my Haiti team, have the utmost confidence in him and his passion to help those in need in Haiti. There are many sets ranging from used $250 to new $700. I will purchase the best quality I can based on how much I can raise. We will send the kit down with our next medical relief trip at the end of February. Thank you for considering helping out. $5 would be great $10 would be awesome, but anything is appreciated!
