I am Ezra Anderson a 21 years old male born and raised in St. Louis Missouri. I am in my junior year of college at University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg Ky majoring in psychology and minoring in theater. I have been a dedicated christian for 5 years and i am preparing to possibly do future mission work.

I am writing to you to let you know about a missions opportunity this winter, to which God is leading me. Unlike traditional trips where I go and serve a people group, I am drawn to attend Urbana 12 Missions Conference, a conference so big, it only happens once every three years in St. Louis, MO. Why do I need support to attend a conference? Because it is not so much a conference as an experience. But first let me tell you where I am.
In my spiritual growth I have realized that I am no longer an infant. I still have much more to learn, but I know I need to focus on being active in my faith. I have been focusing on how to concentrate all of the zeal I have for the Lord and centering on spiritual disciplines, such as prayer and reading the bible more. These are key, and base parts of the Christine life and needed daily. Along with the fact that I have realized that I being a Junior in college have little room for un-wise decisions. I have to set a good example for my peers and the freshmen coming into college. So the challenge is making the transition into being a leader instead of a follower. This includes having the Lords wisdom taken into account for all of my daily decisions. Especially when hanging out with those younger than me. Now the way I have gone about doing this is keeping flash cards with me that have bible verses written on them. When I come across various situations ill read them and pray in my head for strength to live out what God would have me do. Some of these verses are;
Hebrews 12:15 “See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.”
Romans 12:12 “rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer”.
Galatians 5:22-23 “But the Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law”.
Isaiah 1:17 “Learn to do right! Seek justice encourage the oppressed. Defend the case of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow”.
Going over these verses daily and praying on my knees becoming more humble, is an everyday thing, not a Sunday recreational activity. So I pray I reflect that more and more as I grow in the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.
Now, why Urbana? It’s not just because of amazing past speakers like Billy Graham, Elisabeth Elliot, Shane Claiborne and Ravi Zacharias. And it is not because it completely changed the lives of people like Jim Elliot who was martyred in Ecuador, Gary Haugen, founder of International Justice Mission, Tim Keller, John Piper and so many others who are world changers today. It’s because He wants to change me and show me more of who He is amongst 18,000 people. God has made us all in a particular way and has placed us in particular circumstances where we are and at a particular point in global history. God has prepared good works in advance for me to do and Urbana is designed to help me figure out my place in God’s story.
Urbana 12 offers over 200 tracks and seminars and will attract over 250 organizations working in over 150 countries who are passionate about investing in me and mentoring me as I join in God’s global mission. I am praying to come away with a global vision for the amazing work God is doing all throughout his world. It will require sacrifices. The conference dates are Dec 27-Jan1 which means I will be giving up a huge portion of my winter break and time with my family. But when I think about the sacrifices that others have made for the Kingdom, this seems so small.
In order to go, I will need to raise about $500 to cover the cost of registration, transportation, hotel and food. My church here in Williamsburg, KY has already pledged the cost of pre-registration. I am going with a group and so we will be pooling our money so we can help each other get there together. All the money you send will go in a missions fund to help everyone and in case something happens where I cannot go, you can rest assured that it will go towards world missions since logistically, it could not be returned.
Would you pray about giving to this experience please and thank you.
