Hi all, I need all your support to help me raise some money towards a special wheelchair which costs £22,000 that will help me to stay independent and socialise with all my friends at school. "THE parents of an 8 old disabled girl are appealing for donations towards a powered wheelchair so she can keep moving around independently. Abigail Bolt from Minster on Sea was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy type two at 28 months old, and the condition has left her unable to crawl, kneel, stand, walk or sit up from a lying position. Abigail currently has a NHS powered chair which she has out grown, they are unable to modify or adjust it anymore which has started to have an effect on her health as her posture is not correct, her parents Craig Bolt and Melisa Mead, have been told by the NHS that due to not having a fully adapted house they are unable to provide her with a new chair. The adaptions to the house could take up to 3 years to be in place. So they have started a campaign to raise the money needed towards the new wheelchair, which they say will help her to “be more comfortable and to be a normal young girl by continuing to interact and socialise with her school peers and have her full independence”. Abigail is very intelligent young lady and deserves to have the best possible life we can give her. Mr Bolt, Abigail’s father who became Abigail’s full time carer when he gave up work 3 years ago, and Ms Mead Abigail’s mum, a NHS receptionist , have researched Abigail’s condition and believe a new powered wheelchair is vital for her physical and mental health. They said: “The longer Abigail is in the old chair the worse Abigail’s posture and health will become which will lead her to having operations quicker than needed. “ To make a donation or help fundraise, email Abigail.Independence@aol.co.uk
