Help us in helping Coquitlam to be a city where everyone belongs by installing Coquitlam's Rainbow Crosswalk as a symbol for Inclusion, Diversity, Acceptance, Tolerance and Love and as a conversation starter for Awareness and Education

My name is Katrina Shelast and I have set up this page with the support of Jerome Bouvier and multiple other community champions who strongly believe that this crosswalk is imperative.  We created this for anyone who would like to Donate to the fund for Coquitlam's Rainbow Crosswalk. To note: The Crosswalk has been approved by our City Council and we are just waiting to find out if they will use these donations. If the money is not accepted we will disperse these funds to programs in our community that encompass Diversity and Acceptance including those which support our local LGBTQ community.

We see this Crosswalk as a symbol for Inclusion, Diversity, Acceptance, Tolerance and Love and as a conversation starter for Awareness and Education. We recognize that there is much more work to do beyond a Crosswalk, but this is a start.

As most of you know, there has been some pretty strong opposition to this initiative.  Although we aren't certain that the cost is the real issue, we have noted that a number of taxpayers don't see this as a worthy cause for their dollars, so we are attempting to do here is create a solution for this.

The crosswalk is projected to cost around $8000 and we have added on a percentage to cover the site fees as well.  Should you have any questions about your donations please contact us!
