There are so few chances for a little one to make it out of the shelter, and if a dog comes to a shelter heart worm positive, their chances are next to none.  Many rescues will not take heart worm positive dogs due to the length of treatment required and the expense.  We always try to be "Dachshund Rescue" not "Heart Worm Negative Dachshund Rescue" and yesterday, we welcomed a prety girl who, like so many of our DRSF doxies, will need to fight through a painful series of shots that could have totally been avoided by one smimple pill costing less than $10.  Instead, her treatment will be approximately $500.

Brooklyn is a pretty girl, just 3 years old, and her physical condition tells the story of how difficult her life has been.  Not only is she heart worm positive, but her tail has been docked as well.  Neither point to a life of love and safety, but she is safe with us, and this evening, we ask your help to fund her care <3

We welcome donations of any size to her care and even if you are not able to donate, we invite you to share her story as a reminder to all the pet parents out there how important it is to administer heartworm treatment every month!
