In December of 2013, Bill Thomas ( 42 yrs old) started experiencing troubling health problems. He noticed weakness, and realized he wasn't quite walking right. Being the hard worker he was ( and his wife might even add.. " hard headed"), Bill struggled though the symptoms and continued working for his family of four, with the fifth on the way. But by May 2014, a month after the birth of his yougest daughter, problems had become to severe to pass off. So severe that holding his newborn was a struggle for him.

May 13, 2014, Bill was diagnosed with ALS. As anyone can imagine, this news has been devestating to Bill and his family. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease" damages motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. Motor neurons are nerve cells that control muscle movement and are an important part of the bodies neuromuscular system. The neuromuscular system enables our bodies to move and is made up of the brain, many nerves, and muscles. Things that we do everyday - like reading, walking, running, lifting stuff, and even reaching for a glass of water are all controlled by the neuromuscular system. Since Bill's symptoms started, they have progressively gotten worse. Daily activies are becoming harder and harder for Bill. There is no cure for ALS, and at this time, just one treatment that only prolongs life 2-5 months, without relieving any symptoms.

Bill is a fun loving, hard working, husband, and father of three small kids. Many parts of the Thomas families life before ALS are gone already. From enjoying his favorite past time building model cars, to simple being able to take care of himself. Bill is well on his journey and battle with ALS. Each day will continue to be a struggle for him and his family, both emotionally and finacially. Renovations will be needed to their home, daily bills will need paid, expensenses for hospital care, and home care. The Thomas family is asking for your help at this time. Any donations you make will be a blessing to this family, and are greatly appriecated.
