My father served in the U.S. Navy for 24 years, 9 months, and 11 days. He passed away September 11, 2013 from cancer. The VA ignored us. My Mission Is Giving back to those who gave to us.......

The David C. Brovald Verterans Memorial Organization was established to assist veteran's and their families during times of need and to support those who have endured the rejection of various services by our VA administration, Defense Department and our local and federal government agencies.

While the various organizations vow to advocate our veteran service men and women, many have fallen short in providing the dedicated resources to both our service member and the service member's family.

As our service members return to civilian life, continued support and resources should be made available unconditionally and without conclusion.

My name is Laura L. Brovald-Sharpe and I founded the David C. Brovald Veterans Memorial Organization. My father was a Navy veteran who's time (in my opinion) ended because he was not allotted the medical attention he deserved. MCPO David C. Brovald made multiple requests to be seen at his local VA hospital, his requests went unanswered. Unable to eat one morning, he went to the hospital. He walked into the hospital asking the staff to contact the VA Hospital, he underwent surgery to determine his diagnosis and never walked again, was told he had a year to live and that he had stage 4 colon cancer and small cell cancer of the lungs. Two days later they advised me that he had six months to live. I brought him home 23 July 2013 because they would not do anything else for my father and the VA hospital was not going to take a terminal ill patient. They offered to place him in a hospice facility...to die alone? I brought my father home and spent every minute I could with him. Ironically, he passed away 11 September 2013.
