Brianna Buss is an incredibly talented fourteen year-old piano and violin student at the Arts Council of Wayne County (she's also a great ACWC volunteer). We were so excited when we found out that she was accepted into the prestigious University of North Carolina’s School of the Arts Summer Piano Workshop, June 29 to July 12. (http://www.uncsa.edu/summer/music.htm)
The Workshop is a fantastic opportunity for Brianna to learn and grow. “The piano workshop is a two-week program that offers aspiring pianists the opportunity to develop their craft in a supportive and encouraging environment” (uncsa.edu).
Here’s what Brianna’s piano teacher, Marshall Foster had to say about her -
“I have been Brianna's piano instructor at the Arts Council of Wayne County for about a year and a half. Rarely have I seen a student as highly motivated and as eager to learn and perfect her skills. She plays with a sense of understanding and maturity that I believe is well beyond her years. Even at this stage of her life she is playing music that is more likely to be the focus of a college level student. Indeed, she welcomes the challenge that comes with undertaking advanced literature. Brianna brings to her music sensitive artistry as well as technical proficiency, and her avid interest in music theory enhances these qualities. Her dedication, optimistic manner and enthusiasm will serve her well as she advances in her studies. Brianna is a very talented and unassuming young lady, a true gem, and I can't think of anyone more deserving of encouragement and support.”
