My love for boxing began at a club just like Eastside Boxing, when I was 10 year old. Through it, I learned a sense of self-discipline and pride that has helped me in every aspect of my life since then. I'm honored to be a part of this epic fund raiser for Eastside Boxing. The club was only 6 months old when it fell victim to a fire last fall, and took away that opportunity for the youths-in-need in the downtown eastside. In that short time it had become a place to go in their free time and learn discipline and motivation, and take part in something they could have pride in. It also provided self-defense classes to women and girls that also gained that same sense of accomplishment; the club boasted a membership that was nearly 40% female. Its a worthy cause that helps so many people.

If you haven't been to, or seen Aprons for Gloves in the past 2 years, it has been  the event of the summer in Gastown. A bunch of out-of-shape, heavy drinking, chain-smoking bartenders and restaurant staff (amongst others of similar life-styles) leave their normal lives behind for 3 months, and train ferociously to become fit warriors, with the help of the volunteer coaches and trainers of Eastside Boxing. The dukes fly, and lives are changed. Please be a part of it. Support my fund raising goals, and help us re-open Eastside boxing, for all the right reasons.
