Shemp was rescued from the Cherokee County Animal Shelter by the Humane Society of Cherokee County.  We had a wonderful foster lined up for this great dog, and the day he left the shelter he started vomiting uncontrollably.  He was hospitalized and they did x-rays, tissue biopsies, and exploratory surgery.  He's had two barium tests to help determine what may be wrong.  He is also on multiple medications.  Shemp is young and otherwise healthy, but he has a "lazy" stomach, meaning he can't digest food like a normal dog.  He is on special meds, has to be fed small amounts of expensive food every couple of hours, and he seems to be responding to this protocol.  His foster parents have been wonderful, but the Humane Society has to pay all the vet bills, which currently total almost $1200.00!  We are an all volunteer organization that receives no city or county financial support for providing all the adoption and rescue services at the local County Animal Shelter.  These costs mean we will not be able to afford to safe other dogs and cats!  Please help if you can.
