As a foster-based Pit Bull rescue, we run into many situations that require more money than we can raise through our normal fundraising efforts.  We are encountering a few of those situations now...

Teddy Bear was pulled from a kill-shelter in SC.  He is between 6-9 years old, was Heartworm positive and has gone through fast-kill treatment.  He was injured in the past, possibly hit by a car, and his entire pelvic area was affected and never corrected.  His back legs do NOT bend but he is a strong-willed lovebug who doesn't let that stop him!  He recently came to PA with us and he needs to see OUR vet and have chest x-rays done so that we can see how much damage was done to his heart by the Heartworms.

Penny was our very FIRST rescue in August of 2012 and she is still with us.  Penny is a "special needs" girl...she has separation anxiety issues from her life on the streets and cannot be crated--she will chew her way out of a crate or airline carrier and do harm to herself in the process.  She will eat anything left lying around...ropes, toys, buckets...anything.  She has undergone $3000 in surgeries for ER visits.  She now has two clusters of cysts growing around her left eye that need to be checked and probably removed.

Sam was a mere puppy of 6 months when we rescued him in September of 2012...He had spent three months in the shelter. He was in a foster-to-adopt situation through the rescue for 10 weeks but before and after that, he was in boarding.  This poor fellow has spent WAY too much time not being part of a family.  We brought him up to PA last week and he went into a foster-to-adopt period with approved adopters and is doing well...just working through a few small issues.  However, they have found a small lump on Sam's leg that will need to be checked out so we know what it is and what, if anything, will need to be done.

On top of these major things, we have food, monthly preventatives (Sentinel for Heartworms and Frontline for Fleas/Ticks), toys, treats, bowls, beds, blankets, collars, leashes that we continue to provide for all of the dogs in our care.  We are currently working on getting a great liability insurance policy which requires a down payment of $422.75 and monthly payments of $115.93.  We are working on grants for a facility and proper transport vehicle and we just were recently approved for our PA Kennel License.

So, as you can see...we are trying VERY hard to do rescue the RIGHT way but it's not always easy.  And it's not something that we can do on our own...we need your support and assistance.  So...please give if/what you can and point others in our direction.  The more support & love we have, the more Pitties we can save.
