The Philippines is in desperate need of your help. Day by day, lives are being lost as we wait and watch developing news and recovery missions. Please spare a moment to read my cause for the Filipino people who needs our help. Make it your cause too! More ...

Hi, my name is Vincent Malazarte Dulhao and I am living and working in the United Arab Emirates. I am a Filipino. Being far away from home at a time when the super typhoon Haiyan devastated the Philippines made me feel tremendously grateful that I wasn’t there to experience the wrath and gruesome aftermath of the storm. It made me feel grateful that I was safe in a foreign country with my wife, and I was even more relieved that my parents and relatives back home were not as badly affected. I’m sure a lot of Filipinos outside the country felt the same way.

After the storm, news of the devastation came gradually at a very slow pace. Communication facilities were crippled, leaving millions of overseas Filipinos frantically waiting to contact their families and hoping for a positive outcome. Many are still hoping, many had favorable results, but many ended up weeping. Day after day, as more news and social platforms began pouring details of the aftermath, my feeling of gratefulness and relief began to gently fade. It came to a point when I was so overwhelmed by "HELL!" I don’t quite know how else to clearly describe it. By now, those of you reading this know what I mean.

desperately in need of food and water

Being in a foreign country while millions of my kababayans are gravely suffering made me feel useless, and I'm sure that I am not alone. Forget about the “kababayan” word, it’s about being human, thinking human and feeling human. Knowing about the sad situation in the Philippines makes us so eager to be there and help out. It makes us want to fly back home, help out, and never look back! Unfortunately there is another side of being human. Another side that puts us on our knees due to our current circumstances, unavoidable circumstances, that all we can do is pray.

Aside from your sincere and profound prayers, I am humbly requesting all of you to chip in for a cause. Whatever amount you intend to give goes out to Filipinos who are currently in need of basic necessities (food, water, shelter, clothing, sanitation, medicine, etc...) Should you doubt about where your money is going, I respect you and kindly request that you close this page right now. Being human, there are so many questions and uncertainties about who’s doing what, where and when during this calamity. So many divisions in religion, nationality, culture and people blaming people for doing this and doing that, while human beings like you and me are desperately seeking help to the point that they lose their dignity, and eventually, their lives. I honestly don’t have the answers to your questions. All I can tell you is that I really felt useless for not being in my home country and helping out, and I found this as a way of lending a hand. I am asking all of you to make it your way too.

Proceeds will go out initially to the Sea Knights, an organization of divers for environmental protection where my sister is an active member. Her name is Mary Joan Dulhao, and this is their website . Although their primary focus is protection of the seas, they are just like you and me, who couldn’t stay on the sidelines and watch the aftermath of the recent Bohol earthquake.

Now they are on their boats, loading and unloading supplies for the victims of Haiyan. This is the only relief group that I have direct contact with so far, and I’m hoping more groups will volunteer also. Right now, I do not have the luxury of ensuring that your money will be well spent, but I can assure you that my sister is a person who gets things done in situations like this. Filipinos are badly in need of our help, and they don’t have the luxury of time.

"My initial goal for this cause is $3000. It may not be much, but it's a start, and it's our goal for the Filipinos in need of help right now. We can easily achieve this goal if we choose to do so,  for as low as $5...and the best thing is that you don't have to put your name if you don't want to. God Bless!"

For those that live in the UAE, I can collect funds within Dubai and Sharjah. Please call/sms me on 0097150-8718737. bbm pin 266F5651, or PM me on Facebook.
