Sweet Shelby was rescued from a high kill shelter in Southern Ca. by a 501(c)3 Rescue in Northern California. Rescue For Pet Sake took Shelby in, sight unseen knowing she would die if they did not take her. When Shelby arrived in Northern Ca. the next night the rescue noticed something was not right about her and took her to the vet immediately the next morning. Shelby had some tests preformed and has come up positive for having a deadly liver shunt. A liver shunt is a blood vessel that carries blood around the liver instead of through it causing toxins to build up in her blood. As a result of her liver shunt she has motion problems, is partially blind and she has seizures. Shelby is on prescription food and getting medications that will help her temporarily get by until her surgery. The surgery Shelby will be getting is a very expensive surgery where the vet will be introducing a constrictor to the vessel carrying blood around the liver, returning blood flow through the liver. After the surgery Shelby could return to normal as soon as 4-6 weeks and she surgery as a success rate of 85%. With donations Shelby could get this life saving surgery soon and start to live a normal life and get adopted in to her forever home. All donations are 100% tax deductible and will go to helping 4 month old Shelby live a happy full life.
