Please support the Mt Washington Observatory, and help to create a memorial to honor my brother, Ssgt Dale Kelly, KIA in Operation Iraqi Freedom May 6, 2006. Check out the MWObs website! More ...

SSgt Dale J Kelly Jr belonged to the 172nd Mountain Company of the Maine National Guard Infantry. In the winter of 2006, the 172nd shipped out to Iraq, where they served courageously in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Ssgt Kelly was killed in action by an IED on May 6, 2006.

SSgt Dale Kelly  was my brother. He loved the mountains.  Together, we made an annual "pilgrimmage" to the White Mountains for a weekend back packing trip. Mt Washington was always a favorite destination. Some of our best hikes, and some of our most difficult hikes, were treks to the summit of Washington.

The Mount Washington Observatory is a non-profit scientific research and educational institution working to advance understanding of Earth's weather and climate. The facility is located at the summit of Mount Washington, home of "the world's worst weather".

Today, the museum in the visitors' center at the summit of Mt Washington is being renovated, and the work creates a uniquely poigniant opportunity to establish a memorial for my brother Dale. "Naming" opportunities exist right now, available for those who donate to the Mt Washington Observatory's efforts to renovate the museum as the new exhibit "Extreme Mt Washington".

I am asking for help in raising money for the Mt Washington Observatory's new exhibit in honor of my brother, Ssgt Dale Kelly. Donations made in his honor will help workers complete the museum exhibits, and in return, a plaque bearing his name will be permanently placed in the museum.

"This exhibit made possible by the generous donations in honor of Ssgt Dale J Kelly Jr, KIA Operation Iraqi Freedom May 6, 2006".

Won't you help the Mt Washington Observatory continue it's studies and educational efforts, help create a new and wonderful exhibit for this popular attraction, and help sustain the memory of the life and the sacrifice of a proud and brave American soldier, my brother, Ssgt Dale J Kelly?
