In the spirit of giving back to someone who has given so much to our community, this request for help is being sent out for Coach Ken McDonald and his wife Terri who have been living in our area for over nine years.  Ken has been battling colon cancer since February 2006.  He has had 4 surgeries, radiation, and every chemo drug available. Throughout all of his surgeries, radiation, and chemo treatments he still kept coaching soccer.

His dedication and commitment to the players/teams that he has coached is truly amazing. It is his love of the game of soccer, the players, and his wife that has kept him going. There have been so many that have benefited from Ken's immense knowledge of the game. He has coached competitive teams at clubs in Mobile, Pensacola, Gulf Breeze, Navarre, Niceville and Griffin, GA. From 2002-2010 Ken coached for the USA Deaf Association. He coached both the men's and women's teams in the Deaflympics. The women's team won two gold medals. This was an extraordinary feat since the players were deaf and Ken being hearing had to learn sign language.  Ken also coached at Woodham and Navarre High Schools.  Any players that have been coached by Ken have definitely learned the game of soccer!

Seven years of fighting cancer have taken its toll physically and financially. Regretfully, Ken can no longer coach.
