In June 2013, Kerrie (my wife) & I are spending 2 weeks volunteering at the Free The Bears Sanctuary in Cambodia.
Kerrie & I are deeply moved by the horrible suffering inflicted on bears throughout Asia as part of the bile industry, but we are equally inspired by the courageous & dedicated work done by the Free The Bears Fund Inc. To celebrate my 40th birthday I am excited to do something that will make a positive difference to the world we share with so many amazing animals:) We can't wait to meet some of the rescued bears face to face, and lend a helping hand with any projects that need doing while we are there. (Anything from repairing or cleaning the enclosures to preparing meals for the bears.) As part of the volunteer program, we will personally be donating $1750 to Free The Bears Fund Inc, plus 2 weeks of our time. Our goal is to triple our donation by giving an extra $3,500.00 to help continue the great work of this not-for-profit organization.

Please give generously to help these beautiful animals that have all suffered at the hands of 'mankind'.

PS – People who know me will know that I love bikes! My original plan for my birthday was to go to France to see the 100th Tour De France. I do not have the time or funds to do both these trips, so I choose to help the bears. As part of my fundraising efforts I rode my own Tour stage on May 27th with a 3 friends who were crazy enough to join me - we rode a 330km loop in 10.5 hrs, including almost 3000m vertical, thru QLD & NSW starting at In2Cycles Robina (where I work), thru Canungra & Beaudesert, then south thru Mt Barney into NSW, across to Kyogle, Murwillumbah & Tweed Heads, & back to the GC finishing at The Cardamom Pod in Broadbeach for a hard earned all you can eat vegetarian dinner!

Thank you for your support :)
