Joey is 13 years old and lives in Biddeford, Maine. He was born with microlissencephaly, which means he has a small, smooth brain.
He does not walk or talk and is dependent fully on his mom and nurses to take care of his needs. As Joey is wheelchair bound, his mom, Erica desperately needs a
reliable wheelchair van to take Joey to his many doctor's appointments. In December 2012 he had surgery for severe scoliosis. As it is now June, his
brace was recently removed, and his x-rays showed complete healing. He now has more opportunity to resume his much-loved activities, such as going to camp, fishing,
swimming, and Boy Scouts. He loves to go to the Fryeburg Fair, he loves to go to the beach. He has a lot of responsibilities, though, and that is to
get to his physician appointments at Maine Medical Center, Boston Children's, Shriner's Hospital, and more recently, a GI specialist in Maryland.
As Joey is thirteen, and almost 83 pounds, he is getting too heavy to be lifted into a vehicle. A wheelchair van is desperately needed to make the
transition from home to appointment or activity an easy one.

Joey has a beautiful smile and a contagious laugh. His interest in the world around him, and being able to participate in the world around him, is
very important to him.
