The JOI Centre exists to raise funds for the support of programs that improve the condition of children and youth in distress, assist orphaned animals, and other worthwhile causes, in memory of Joilinn Edgar.

Joilinn was lost to us in a tragic car accident on November 21, 2009. She had been accepted to the University of Calgary, where she planned to focus on child studies and culture and communication. Joilinn's dream was to work with children on a world-wide basis.

We are very proud of the work accomplished by The JOI Centre over the last few years.  With the help of our many supporters, donations have been made to the Y.M.C.A.'s "STRONG KIDS" CAMPAIGN, to Paul Brandt's "BUILD IT FORWARD" CAMPAIGN for Alberta Flood Relief, to the DAVID SHELDRICK WILDLIFE TRUST's Elephant Orphan Project, and to a number of other organizations and causes.

The Y.M.C.A.'s Strong Kids Campaign hosted the 4th annual JUMP FOR JOI Skipathon in August, 2013, raising $2061.00 through the Skipathon and The JOI Centre's silent auction. With the help of many capable and generous supporters, The JOI Centre was delighted to donate $1,400.00 to the Strong Kids Campaign, helping 12 kids to go to summer camps in 2014.

We have also fostered Barsilinga, one of the orphaned elephants being cared for by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. On a sad note, Patrick, one of the Trust's beloved elephant keepers, died at quite a young age, and a donation to his family was made through The JOI Centre.
