Taproot Collaborative has had a stellar year! Our work to innovate nature-based methods to help heal people and the planet continues. This year we collaborated with native tribes, local communities, government agencies and universities to advance our Pinaleño Sacred Springs Project. Here's a list of our successes:

In 2026 Team Taproot:

• Began restoration work in four additional watersheds.
• Helped the San Carlos Apache Tribe Natural Resource leaders and restore a drought impacted spring on their reservation.
• Restored water flow to XXX acres of Critical Habitat for one of the world's most highly endangered species, the Mt. Graham red squirrel.
• Set the stage to begin pioneering the use of native Fungi as a powerful ally in forest restoration.
• Restored fire impacted springs and watersheds for Native endangered species teetering on extinction.
• Saw living proof that we help save Emerald Spring from being forever eroded. (see link).

Big Plans for 2027.  Next year Team Taproot plans to:

• Partner with foresters from the US Forest Service to plant thousands of trees in the Pinaleño mountains.
• Use this planting to demonstrate how inoculating tree seedlings with native soil fungi accelerates growth and survival rates.
• Restore an additional five fire and drought impacted springs and watersheds in the Pinaleño Mountains.
• Expand our stream and wildlife camera monitoring program.
• Bring San Carlos Apache youth and leaders to the project site to inspire a new generation of natural resource professionals.
